First column represents insurance revenues (both brokerage and underwriting) as a percentage of all noninterest, or fee, income at the bank—one way of gauging the relative importance of insurance at the institution. Delaware credit card banks have not been included here.

The first column represents the sum of two FDIC call report categories: "Insurance and reinsurance underwriting income" and "Income from other insurance activities," i.e., brokerage income. The latter includes "income from insurance product sales and referrals," including "service charges, commissions, and fees earned from insurance sales, including credit, life, health, property, casualty, and title insurance products as well as annuities (fixed, variable, and deferred)." (It does not include, however, commissions from "the sale of annuities to bank customers by the bank’s securities brokerage subsidiary.")
