Singer’s ‘100’ Bank Brokerage Index

Singer’s ‘100’ Bank Brokerage Index

The Index tracks 100 bank retail brokerage programs on a quarterly basis. Each quarter presents the rise and fall of each individual bank’s index (based on annuities and securities revenues), as well as the overall industry index. This is an expanded version of the BISA-Singer’s Bank Brokerage Index, which tracks 20 retail bank brokerage programs.

Singer’s ‘100’ Index for 2008 4th Quarter: 103 (down from 117 in the previous quarter).

By comparison, the BISA-Singer’s Bank Brokerage Index was 108 for the 4th quarter, down from 119.

This decline in bank brokerage might be expected, however, given that the 4th quarter was marked by a 6.2 percent drop in GDP, the worst quarter since 1982, and a 22 percent decline in the S&P 500 Index.
